It’s Official … we do have the best beers in the land!

Adrian Redgrove - The man who brews Harvest Pale

This week a group of 10 staff from The Prince headed off to The Great British Beer Festival … a proper jamboree for cask fans! There are over 700 hundred beers on offer and as the first session at this Earls Court event is trade only, none of them have sold out.

As the staff headed off in two teams to complete their cask beer challenge, Diane and me met up with Paul Halsey from Purity and Simon Webster from Thornbridge. Both gave us great advice on our plans to brew beer at The Prince and then we went over to listen to announcement of the winners of the Champion Beer competition.

Purity’s Pure Gold was in with a shout but unfortunately missed out and didn’t make the final. Its an excellent beer and a regular on the Bar at The Prince. It was trumped for Champion Beer of Great Britain by eight finalists and Castle Rock Harvest Pale, one of my all time favourite beers and a regular at The Prince, emerged as overall Champion.

The Thornbridge crew were happy too: although Jaipur didn’t take the overall crown, it won Gold in the Strong Bitter category.

So if you want to drink the best beers in the land , come down to The Prince.

PS We also have another finalist on the bar early next week – Timothy Taylor Landlord.
