In Praise of Iron Maiden

You may remember the Iron Maiden song  “Women in Uniform”  …

Beehive hairdo, 45 on the hip
Patrolwoman Saunders, don`t you give her no whip
Took me to the station for a breathtest
then back to the bedroom for some house-arrest

Well, we will all be pleased to know there’s no misogyny at The Prince and the new uniforms will look just as good on the guys as our female staff.

Yes that’s right. In a few weeks time, staff at The Prince will be sporting smart new uniforms. It’s all part of our drive to “up our game” and offer the best customer service of any pub in Birmingham. Don’t worry … there will be no black shirts or cheesy embroidered polo shirts. OK its a bit of a stretch to imagine some of our staff giving up their own unique fashion sense but we want you to know, we are at your service.

Of course the uniform in itself will be meaningless without real customer benefit. So over the next month all our staff are about to undergone some pretty extensive training so that we can deliver the following, all with a welcoming, smiling face, even during our busiest times:

Winners of The Best Dressed Bar Staff 2010?

  • Faster service at the bar
  • Table service in the Garden
  • A thorough training on cask beers
  • Improved knowledge of wine
  • Improved knowledge of our range of over 20 malt whiskies
  • An understanding of our range of a dozen specialist rums
  • An introduction to Belgian Beer

We don’t intend to squeeze the personality out of the pub, or make it a less friendly place. Quite the opposite.  We do want everyone to know and to feel that at The Prince, The Customer is King!
