How to make a good Hot Toddy

Totty no! Toddy yes!!

Forget Night Nurse, your Mum knows the best thing for a cold or sore throat. Hot Toddy.

Apart from the medicinal aspects of this half forgotten favourite, there’s something strange about steam rising from a whisky glass.  Hot Toddy is simply a great drink for a cold night and it makes a good starter on arrival at The Prince.

Here’s how we make our Hot Toddy …

Place a double whisky in a good glass; no need to use a malt,  just Famous Grouse or Bells will work well.

Add a generous teaspoonful of honey.

Pop in the microwave for 20 seconds to warm up the whisky.

Squeeze half a lemon into the glass.

Add a couple of cloves and about 200ml (a third of a pint ) of very hot but not boiling water.

Stir well then leave to stand for a minute or two. Add a slice of lemon for garnish. Enjoy whilst still very hot. Cheers.
